TED NUGENT

He's my rock and roll idol, but more importently Ted Nugent says what many of us believe. Here is a segment of my interview with Ted at the NRA National Convention in Phoenix. Thanks to Hortons for sponsoring the trip.

Wednesday May 13th 2009

OK so yesterday Scott my producer gets a couple of calls from listeners who are upset that I used the Chevy Chase piece from 'Christmas Vacation', the out take from 'Network' where the main character says "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" and I finished up with a piece from 'Wayne's World' the great "yeah and monkeys might fly out of my butt."
I've been using those drops for almost a decade and that's the first time I've had anyone call to complain.....go figure. Seems to me many of us are probably muttering harsher things then that with what this administration is doing to our country. Their absolute fiscal irresponsibility is amazing to me. What also amazes me is the folks who complained about how Bush was spending like a crazy man and now have no problem with this President. The spending spree by this new administration and the Democrat controlled Congress makes Bush look like a penny pincher.
I was talking to Dan Harpool of Complete Computing during a break in the show yesterday and told him how I feared for the future of this great nation. I'm on the downside of my life, however I really fear for my children and most of all my grand children. I don't believe our grand children will see the America freedoms we grew up to enjoy and that their standard of living will be well below ours.
Let's finish up with several stories, one shows that Congress is going to target you for more taxes. Two, April consumer spending was down. No shock to me there and I won't be running out to buy stuff as I watch gas prices jump nearly 50 cents in three weeks, and finally be careful in how much tonsil hockey and other sex games you play.
Talk to you later.

Monday's blog late

It was great talking to you this Monday. We had some great topics. Make sure you read Robert Murphy's book. The discussion about NASA was also very good considering the mission they are undertaking at this time. Finally pretty interesting your thoughts on the different ways the media treated CBS golf analyst David Feherty and comedian Wanda Sykes. I've only found a few right wing blogs saying any thing about Sykes but check out what the echo chamber is saying about Feherty.

Finally my thanks to the folks who helped me in my tile trials. I'll give the acid a try.

Tomorrow health care and global warming bet you Arkansas Outdoors men didn't know you're all for fighting global warming ....should be fun. Oh, by the way many people have asked me why I sign off with the letters YIL. It stands for Yours in Liberty.

National Day of Prayer

Today is the time when Presidents since Truman have called on all Americans to turn to God in prayer and ask his direction and blessings for this great nation. Each of these Presidents have signed a proclamation and then held a National Prayer Luncheon, that is until today. President Obama is signing the Proclamation today but WILL NOT have a luncheon, he wants this day to be private for him. I really don't get this guy. Here's a little history on today....

The National Day of Prayer became law in 1952 under President Harry Truman following a six-week crusade in the nation’s capital led by Rev. Billy Graham. Members of the House and Senate introduced a joint resolution for an annual National Day of Prayer, "on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals."
One senator called the resolution a measure against "the corrosive forces of communism which seek simultaneously to destroy our democratic way of life and the faith in an Almighty God on which it is based."
But the idea was not new. It had been proposed and rejected several times. In an 1808 letter to Rev. Samuel Miller, Thomas Jefferson wrote: "Fasting and prayer are religious exercises; the enjoining them an act of discipline. Every religious society has a right to determine for itself the time for these exercises, and the objects proper for them, according to their own particular tenets; and right can never be safer than in their hands, where the Constitution has deposited it."

Hump Day

It's hump day, and I have to be tell ya I'd like to see a few days of sunshine. Wanted to make something clear about what I said yesterday on the show about public education. There is no way under God's blue ski that we can say public education has been successful in this country much less Arkansas.
Here in Arkansas 60 cents of every tax dollar goes to education, then figure in your property taxes, now add in all the money you spend on supplies, and finally add in the 6-7% the Feds throw into the mix. Billions upon billions of dollars yet still over 50% of high school grads who go to college have to take a remedial Math or English class. Countless students are pushed through the system and can't read well enough to fill out a job application, and the graduation rates for minorities is still less then 60%. If I did my job that well, I'd be out on the street in no time.
Perhaps some time in the future we will understand it's not the money, it's the parents and it's the kids who determine if they get educated or not and we will quit throwing good money after bad at public education. Finally it's not my responsibility to make sure your child has an education.

What's Happening today

It's Tuesday which is usually a slow day however that's not the case today. I went to the Greystone Athletic Club today to get in my morning workout and was watching Fox and Friends. Laura Ingram was on talking about the problems parents were having in Washington DC concerning their ability to secure school vouchers. Seems the Dem's who hate vouchers are cutting out the program.
Ingram was enraged about it saying, "it's only $14 million, it's a drop in the bucket." Then the Fox female host says, "yes this is a program that helps many of these families who are headed by single moms." I wanted to PUKE.
This is why I'm not a Dem or a Repub because when it comes to their favorite program it's OK to spend taxpayers money. My response is simple, let people have their own money and let them take care of their families as they see fit. Diverting money to single mom's is no better then diverting money to anyone else....it's still redistribution of wealth...my wealth and your wealth. I truly do believe we need a new party in this country. We need to get away from these two parties who put personal and partisan interests before national interests. We need a party that will adhere to the Founders beliefs in the Constitution, until that happens the insanity in Washington DC will continue.
